More fun than you can handle

DJ Akio has been on The So Very Show plenty of times and I continue to be impressed by him. He managed to make an exciting career change from up-and-coming luau performance star, to one of Hawaii’s best DJ ambassadors.

I’m joking about the luau part, but I’m serious about the ambassador part. He travels more than the rest of us put together, and he works very hard. He holds down a residency at what is currently Hawaii’s hottest club for house music, Next Door Honolulu, he continues to incorporate new tracks into practically every mix, and is incorporating different styles of house music to bring a fun-loving vibe to each of his sets. That’s why we’re STOKED to have him on the show this week!

Haboh and I have been busy too. We’re taking a trip to the mainland this weekend, and it looks to be pretty eventful. First up, we’re hooking up with our friend Inbum Cho of Avondale Music Society who was kind enough to hook us up with a gig at Streetside Cafe with Michael Lacey. Straight from the airport and onto the decks Friday night! You know how we do it…

Then we’ll be spending time with Chicago transplants Marloca and Melon. DJ Marloca moved to Chicago this fall and has already begun spreading the Sisters in Sound, 808 style love.

Friday and Saturday, we’re off to hang out with one of our favorite djs, EVER:

FLX has invited us to dj with him at Cuatro on Saturday night and Bevi Amo on Sunday night. Time to spread some aloha to Chicago through house music! We’re looking forward to hanging out with some of our favorite Chi-town folks, like Karl Almaria from Bunchlox, J Phlip, and The Sound Republic. We also hope to bring back some new tunes to rock on the radio!

One more thing – big MAHALOS go out to Roobee and the crew at BLISS CAFE for hosting us at CASA this past Sunday. It was lots of fun! Haboh and I played a three hour set and had a blast pulling out some Halloween spookiness. I’ll be back at Casa on Sunday, November 12th. I hope to see you all there!
